G-geez, it's freezing...

[In the afternoon, those in the plaza may find this poor unfortunate new feather trudging toward it as he makes his way there in only pants. Needless to say, he's freezing, and he just wants some actual clothes and warm food...! And to know what the heck is going on. He had already glanced at his journal a bit before, so he knows where he is at least, but he's still awfully confused. Not like he really had the chance to read the journal's guide in depth yet since he's just trying to find a place to stay indoors for now.

Hello everyone. My name is Jude Mathis. I'm what you all call a "new feather," and I just arrived earlier today. I've already read most of the guide, so don't worry about filling me in on where I am and all. I do, however, have one particular question...

What do you all do with your wings in regards to clothing? It's kind of uncomfortable to keep them underneath it all, but it'd be a shame if I had to cut up my favorite clothes just to fit my wings through a hole... So does anyone have any suggestions? I figure it's either one or the other, but it's worth asking what you all do, at least.

And also, is there anyone here from Rieze Maxia? Milla? Alvin? [On one hand, he hopes he's not the only one, but on the other, he really wouldn't want them to be stuck here like he apparently is...]

You could take your clothes to All Passions-- that's the specialty clothing shop here. I bet Rhyme could cut the holes a lot more neatly than you or I could. She could probably even stitch them up to make them like buttonholes so that the edges wouldn't fray.

Someone else suggested twins -- Hikaru and Kaoru. But I'll look out for Rhyme too, in case the other two aren't there.

Yes. But I'm pretty unusual! Most people aren't stuck here anywhere near as long as that.

I have a lot to do back on Rieze Maxia, so I really hope I don't end up being here for too long... That's pretty crazy.

If you've been here for that long, what do you do to keep yourself occupied?

I do a lot of things! I take a few classes at the school, and when I'm not doing that, I work at the tea shop and sometimes the Welcome Center, too. Oh, and I'm the head of Brave Vesperia, even though we haven't really done much of anything lately.

Sounds like you really keep yourself busy then.

What's Brave Vesperia?

It's a guild dedicated to helping people around the village with whatever they need done. We've built things like stables for horses before, but we'll also do stuff like find lost items for people. It all depends on what they ask us to do.

Yeah, kind of like that! Now that you mention it, I should probably talk to Haruhi about doing some kind of joint promotion thing. I bet that would really help raise interest in both of them. It'd be nice to have more things to do... then I could really feel like we were being useful.

It seems like the two groups have similar interests, so making a team effort with that is probably a good idea.

This is only my first day here so I'm not making any decisions now, but I'll keep the SOS Brigade and Brave Vesperia in mind. Maybe I'll join one of the two in a month or so.

That's okay, I don't want to push you into it or anything. I'm sure you've got enough to worry about already with just getting settled in.

For now, yeah. I'll think about it and see though, then get back to you on it. It's something nice I could do, probably in addition to volunteering at one of the clinics.

Oh, are you a healer? We can always use more of those around here.

Yup. And in Rieze Maxia, I studied medicine. So between the two, it seems like a good idea.

Wow, that's pretty impressive. The only healing I can do is the kind from the Filial spirits here, and I don't know any medicine at all. I'm sure the clinics will be happy to have someone like you around.

Oh right, I read about those. I think even being able to do that much is impressive on its own though.

Though I am a little curious... How does learning magic from the spirits work here?

Well, first you have to get them to talk to you. That's a lot easier for some of them than for others-- some of them are really picky about who they agree to teach. They won't talk to you at all if they don't like you.

How do you even go about getting them to talk to you though? [Where can you even find them...] I don't suppose you can just call out for one and it'll appear.

Um... actually, that's pretty much how it works. It helps if you're in a place they have a strong connection to, though. Sona is easiest to contact if you're near water, and you can talk to Faeren as long as you're standing outside on the ground. It just depends on whether they like you or not.

Kind of. They don't talk with words the same way people do. It's more of a feeling you get when they're trying to communicate with you. But they can understand it if you talk to them.
