G-geez, it's freezing...

[In the afternoon, those in the plaza may find this poor unfortunate new feather trudging toward it as he makes his way there in only pants. Needless to say, he's freezing, and he just wants some actual clothes and warm food...! And to know what the heck is going on. He had already glanced at his journal a bit before, so he knows where he is at least, but he's still awfully confused. Not like he really had the chance to read the journal's guide in depth yet since he's just trying to find a place to stay indoors for now.

Hello everyone. My name is Jude Mathis. I'm what you all call a "new feather," and I just arrived earlier today. I've already read most of the guide, so don't worry about filling me in on where I am and all. I do, however, have one particular question...

What do you all do with your wings in regards to clothing? It's kind of uncomfortable to keep them underneath it all, but it'd be a shame if I had to cut up my favorite clothes just to fit my wings through a hole... So does anyone have any suggestions? I figure it's either one or the other, but it's worth asking what you all do, at least.

And also, is there anyone here from Rieze Maxia? Milla? Alvin? [On one hand, he hopes he's not the only one, but on the other, he really wouldn't want them to be stuck here like he apparently is...]

So what did you end up doing about yours then?

I cut holes in my shirts, but I've just been wearing my jacket over the wings. It's too cold right now, plus if I ever have to go into battle, I wouldn't want them sticking out anyway. You might as well just ask to get yourself killed. [Or at least maimed.]

But for the rest of the time, it does get pretty damn uncomfortable.

Battle? The people here have seemed pretty peaceful so far... If battles are something to be concerned about though, is that not the case?

Not with each other, dumbass - there's another group out there, called the Third Party. I don't know too much about it, but they're the enemy of the bastards who rule over us here. All the free goodies we get? Bribery. Just something to make us complacent, while we fight their damn war for them.

[But while he's gladly indulged in what Luceti has to offer, it sure as hell hasn't made him any more complacent about any of this.]

Yeah, they draft people from this village and send them into battle. I haven't been here long enough to see it happen myself, though.

I only got here at the beginning of last month. I know the barrier was invaded a few months before that, but at least with a situation like that you're fighting in your own interest instead of on behalf of someone else. It's still shitty, though.

Yeah, it really is... if that's the case though, I wonder when the next time either that or a draft would happen again.

[A pause, as he thinks for a moment.]

I guess I should definitely make sure to keep up on my martial arts though. If you ever need someone to train with, we could practice together, if you want.

[He shrugs, not that it really comes though over the journal.] Why not... I could use some more variety in my training routine.

You use a weapon at all, or is it all hand-to-hand?

The only spirit artes I can use are healing ones, so I stick to hand-to-hand combat.

Spirit artes... You mean magic? That's something I wouldn't mind having on my side.

It seems like magic is the easiest way to explain it, so yeah. It's definitely really helpful though.

I don't know much about magic, but if you want someone to spar against...hey, I'm open.

It's been a while since I've practiced any hand-to-hand. I hadn't planned on using it if I get hauled into battle here...but it's not a bad idea to have a back-up option.

It's fine. Like I said, it's really just the healing kind, so it's not like I'd be using it much when sparring.

Hand-to-hand combat is always a good thing to know how to do and keep in practice. What kind of fighting do you do otherwise, though? Do you use a weapon?

That just makes me more eager to find out, really. But I can wait.
